TNA will join the ranks of Smackdown, Raw, Thunder, and Nitro in a week when it finally moves back to two hours next week (the first time TNA has had a two hour slot since 2004 when they were still running pay-per-views every week.)

Many have said that this decision will aid TNA in the long run as the promotion will have more time to develop solid storylines and provide the fans with lengthy, interesting matches week in and week out. I say that it will give TNA an extra hour to make a mockery of the talent they have at their disposal, and shine a gigantic spotlight on the problems they have had since day one as it comes to booking decisions. I suppose it’s good that my inbox wasn’t flooded with hate after the last column. Puroesu is a sacred cow on the Internet these days, and a surprising amount of people disagree with my opinion that sacred cows make the best hamburger. So the lack of response could mean that readers took what I said to heart and, yay or nay, accepted it as one man’s opinion in a sea of them. More likely, it means no one actually read the damn thing. Continue Reading »

Paul Orndorff

After earning notoriety as a running back at the University of Tampa where he scored 21 career touchdowns and gained over 2000 all-purpose yards in his playing career, Orndorff failed to catch on in the NFL with both the Kansas City Chiefs and the New Orleans Saints. However, he did play for the Jacksonville Sharks of the World Football League in 1975. After one season in the WFL, he began training as a professional wrestler. Continue Reading »

HoganBy TV’s Tim

In 1991, World Wrestling Federation honcho Vincent Kennedy McMahon planned
what he undoubtedly believed was going to be his biggest triumph to date:
selling out the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum with the seventh annual
Wrestlemania event. And while he was sure that the WWF brand name alone had
more than enough clout to fill the 100,000+ seat venue to capacity, Vince
also had a main event bout that he was sure couldn’t miss: former 1980’s
superpatriot Sgt. Slaughter (now a Iraqi sympathizer) vs. the All-American
hero Hulk Hogan for the WWF title against the backdrop of the first Gulf
War. After all, Hogan had drawn millions of dollars and broken box office
and PPV records with the same “big bad foreign heel” formula before, so how
could the WWF miss by pitting him against the biggest American turncoat
since Benedict Arnold? Continue Reading »

I would like to introduce another gentleman who will be sharing his thoughts with us each and every week at Parts Unknown…Will!

Great Championship Reigns, Very Different Champions
By Will Barley

I was one of many writers asked to do a column comparing wrestling’s past to wrestling’s modern day business, and I was the one that was accepted. Actually I think I was the one that managed to e-mail in a response at the right time. So perhaps accepted is the wrong word. Lucky is probably the better word. At any rate I am the guy that will be writing about days gone by and comparing them to days that have arrived. That is good for me, and up to all of the readers out there to determine whatever it is for you guys.

Nobody comes to a wrestling site to hear the life story of the writer. They come to hear about wrestling. So, just know that I am going to be writing about wrestling past, present, and maybe some future as well for however long I am allowed to. The rest you will be able to figure out as time passes by. Oh, I will say that Will Barley is a pen name. My last name is not the same as a type of wheat, and for anyone that is stuck with that name in real life, I am sorry.

I volunteered to throw an introductory column together in an effort to get some content on the new site as soon as possible, and thus I gave myself roughly forty-eight hours to get a topic on my mind, do the research on said topic, and get a rough draft done before a final draft early Saturday morning.

The following is the result of less than two days of work, and for that I apologize. I hope my future, fully worked columns will be a bit better in detail, quality, and overall entertainment value.

It has been talked about in all walks of the wrestling media. John Cena’s current title run at ever how many days it stands now is the longest reign of any WWE champion since way back in the day when Hulk Hogan was holding the title for spans that stretched more than a year at a time (though to be fair he rarely “defended” the belt as opposed to John Cena’s continual title defenses, but in a worked sport that’s just splitting hairs.) HashimotoLadies gentlemen please welcome Dave in his debut column…

Jesus creeping God, am I ill. Great timing, too. My first column for Parts Unknown, and some unearthly critter worms its way into my intestines and hunkers down for a long stay. It’s nasty business in there, I’m afraid, and best left undescribed. They’d balk at putting stuff like this in medical journals, let alone on a pro wrestling blog. But the hell with it. There’s a deadline peering up over the horizon and I intend to hit it right between the eyes.

And speaking of hitting things hard, I’ve been trying to expand my puro horizons as of late. The sheets love it almost reflexively and so do Internet smarks, who are usually nerds, and most nerds labor under the delusion that something cannot suck if it comes from Japan. Never mind that if Asia is the stained, shapeless trenchcoat of a mall pervert, Japan is what he’s wearing under it; their bizarre culture is all the rage among neckbeards these days and wrestling is no exception. No SurrenderThe No Surrender Pay-Per-View kicked off with the TNA World Tag Team Title Match with Kurt Angle and Sting vs. Ron “The Truth” Killings and Adam “Pacman” Jones. Killings started off against Sting – but when Killings went to tag out after a flurry of offense from Sting, Pacman refused to tag in! Killings continued against Kurt Angle, but once again Pacman opted not to tag in when offered. Karen Angle came down, but refused to leave when Sting told her to. Karen slapped Sting, and when he pointed for her to leave again she went down as if she was hit! Angle went outside to investigate and Karen told him that Sting had slapped her! Back in the ring, Pacman finally tagged in to face Sting – but Kurt jumped in and hit the Angle Slam on Sting! Pacman Jones covered Sting for the win as The Truth and Pacman Jones are the new TNA World Tag Team Champions! Continue Reading »

Raw Logo This week, the wait is over. Mr. McMahon and the rest of the world will finally learn the identity of the Chairman’s illegitimate son.

Last week, a lawyer for the woman who has filed a paternity suit against Mr. McMahon revealed only one clue about his illegitimate son: “Things are looking up.” Will Mr. McMahon beam with pride when his offspring’s identity is revealed? Or will he find himself cursing his considerable “grapefruits”? And will Mr. Kennedy, who claimed to be the Chairman’s bastard son last week, have anything to say as this mystery unfolds? Raw had new World Tag Team Champions … for a little while, anyway.

During WWE’s tour in South Africa, Paul London & Brian Kendrick defeated Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch for the gold at the tour’s first stop in Cape Town.

Unfortunately, the title reign didn’t last very long for the high-flying duo. On the final night of the tour in Joberg, the Redneck Wrecking Crew emerged victorious in a rematch and reclaimed titles. Continue Reading »

BrodyWritten By Dutch Mantell

It is already known that Jose Gonzalez was the man that stabbed and killed Bruiser Brody. He pleaded self defense, and partly due to a weak justice system in Puerto Rico, and partly due to the fact that nobody was at Gonzalez’ trial on behalf of Brody, Gonzalez was acquitted. The controversy surrounds why the men that were subpoenaed never got to Puerto Rico to testify. Yes, it is true that certain wrestlers would not talk. But there were many who were very willing to talk. Unfortunately, they never got their chance. Continue Reading »

When Triple H returned to Raw a few weeks ago, he picked up right where he left off. The Game made all of our fans laugh so hard they nearly cried when he introduced Mr. McMahon to some less-than-sexy ladies from his past. The blatant disrespect for the Chairman didn’t sit well with Carlito, who decided to do something about it. Unfortunately for the Cabana host, he wasn’t able to do too much, as Triple H quickly greeted him with a ring-jarring Pedigree. Continue Reading »
